La Corte Suprema de Estados Unidos suspendi\u00f3 ayer la deportaci\u00f3n de varios supuestos pandilleros venezolanos desde Texas a una prisi\u00f3n salvadore\u00f1a, decretada en virtud de una ley del siglo XVIII.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
El presidente Donald Trump invoc\u00f3 el mes pasado la Ley de Enemigos Extranjeros de 1798 para arrestar a supuestos miembros de la banda Tren de Aragua y deportarlos a una c\u00e1rcel de m\u00e1xima seguridad en El Salvador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hasta ahora, la ley se hab\u00eda usado solamente durante la guerra de 1812 contra el Imperio brit\u00e1nico y sus colonias canadienses, as\u00ed como en las dos guerras mundiales del siglo XX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nSe ordena al gobierno no expulsar de EU a ning\u00fan miembro de la supuesta clase de detenidos hasta nueva orden de esta corte\u201d, decret\u00f3.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
La decisi\u00f3n responde a la apelaci\u00f3n de emergencia presentada por abogados de derechos humanos para frenar la deportaci\u00f3n de migrantes retenidos en Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
En el recurso presentado el viernes por la noche, la Uni\u00f3n de Libertades Civiles Estadunidenses (ACLU) argument\u00f3 que se hab\u00eda comunicado al grupo de venezolanos retenidos en Texas que \u201ciban a ser expulsados inminentemente\u201d en virtud de esa ley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ayer, el gobierno present\u00f3 una moci\u00f3n ante la Corte Suprema en la que argumenta que no se le debe impedir usar la Ley de Enemigos Extranjeros para deportar a personas que considera terroristas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
